The Nature hotel AROSEA and Respect for the environment

The forest provides a living space and a place of protection, quietness, wild nature, but also an important element from a commercial point of view. Wood as a raw material is a source of clean and renewable energy.

The protection and respect for nature and its sustainable use provide a fundamental topic in the AROSEA Life Balance Hotel. Our hotel is heated with the biomass district heating plant from the Val d'Ultimo. The district heating plant uses untreated and unused waste wood like wood chippings from the forest, wood shavings, industrial wood and tree bark.

Wood is a sustainable resource. It is a renewable energy, it re-grows continuously and is nourished by CO2 from the air, by water, and the energy of the sun.

Wood produces negligible CO2 emissions. During the combustion of wood, only the amount of CO2 is freed, which the tree has absorbed from the atmosphere with photosynthesis during its growth. However, the CO2 cycle remains in balance.

By using local resources, the transport load can be reduced significantly, another factor which contributes to the reduction of air pollution.

Wood processing provides an additional income source for the local economy. The Val d'Ultimo has lots of forests. The local farmers therefore earn additional income by selling their wood to the district heating plant in the valley.
